Like Thee

Lord, Thou hast given grace to me

I struggle to extend the same

To those I live with easily

Or those my heart delights to blame

How dare I choose to hold to hate

Me – whose own sin was so great

My heart, so prone to vacillate

Incline it to Thy will

Thou full of mercy, loving, kind,

Create in me a tender heart

To see the one who found me blind

Those to Thee near or far apart

That freely giv’n, now freely passed

Alike to both the first and last

To foe or friend my heart holds fast

Let my heart echo Thine
