Labor

A pain wave crashes over you

And panic fills your eyes

Now look at me and take a breath

Fill lungs with slow chest rise

You’re strong, look at you breathing

Let your baby’s head descend

Air enters, pushing tension out

You’ve almost reached the end

You thought you couldn’t do it but

You did nevertheless

Drink in the sight of her sweet face

As, snuggling, you both rest
