Burden Passed

Frustration from this cursed world

Looming discouragement

Despairing at the state of states

At seeing church sin bent

So prone to focus all around

Temporal battles miring down

No joy displayed, just gloomy frown

Is this why Thou wast sent?

Gentle reminder, “Lift your eyes,”

I shift my weary gaze

Then bow again, Thy glory glimpsed

How was I not amazed?

Thy light, too bright to look upon

Approaching not, yet to Thee drawn

Surrounding Him, hosts lift their song

“To Thy great name be praise!”

As I look back to daily life,

My burden passed to Thee

I cannot change all wrong around

But can what Thou gives me

Can rest in Thee in restless times

For justice stand mid shifting lines

Show grace on those who all despise

For Thou dost live in me
